O Portuguese with Friends destina-se a quem está a aprender português europeu.
Sou falante nativo de inglês e professor de inglês, com 25 anos de experiência. Também estou a aprender português!
A ideia do PTWF — Línguas entre Amigos — é simples.
Vou começar por escrever um pouco à mão. Depois, vou verificar o meu português com a ajuda da IA.
As regras:
Escrever à mão. Acho que, desta forma, vou aprender mais depressa.
Colocar entre pontos de interrogação qualquer palavra ou expressão que eu não saiba dizer em português, ou que não tenha a certeza de estar correta: ?palavra?
Ler as correções e reescrever o texto.
Ver se aprendi.
Criar, se possível, um recurso ou uma atividade que possa ajudar outras pessoas.
After all of which, I said this to ChatGPT:
I have indentified the following issues that need to be addressed: 1. vocabulary. I am unable to distinguish between a word that I know (e.g. verificar, depressa) and what it sounds like to a native speaker; its connotations and the context in which it is relevant / appropriate versus a word I have certainty will communicate (e.g. confirmar, rapidamente). I felt like I wanted to put “Um pouco” after the verb, but did not have the courage. So I feel I am on the point of making this word order change. BUt I need to understadn it and practice it more to have the courage to use it. I also know that I am relying on an old fall back trick that I used to help me learn a little French (which I have mostly forgotten, by the way). It is this: If I do not know a word or expression, I use the words and expressions I do know (this is partly what is going on with the vocabulary), and this, inevitably, is leading me into less natural Portuguese. I clearly need to read more. Watching TV and listening to radio is not providing the depth of context I need to start to hear the mood and context of words as they are used. Also: it is over too fast. Overall: an excellent and productive first attempt. It has taken me about an hour and I havve made some very useful discoveries. -
And it said… well, Lots of things But this post is already too long. And I also missed that I went for poder when conseguir would have been better - which confirms the pattern of errors.
